Know all men by these presents that I John Smith Citizen of the County and State aforsaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars to me in hand paid by Minerva Peebles, at and before the signing, sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold, and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Minerva Peebles her heirs or assigns Farm or Twelve Acre Lot number sixty eight situated in the Town of Bastrop East of Main Street on Piney Creek, being the same conveyed to the said Smith by Cornelius Phillips, To have and to hold the above described lot or parcel of ground together with all and singular the rights privileges here ? and appertaining to the same belonging or in assigns incident or appertaining unto the said Minerva Peebles her heirs or assigns in ? ? forever. And I the said John Smith bind myself my heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend the title to said Lot unto the said Minerva Peebles her heirs or assigns against the lawful claims of any and all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof I herunto set my hand and seal using a ? for seal this the 30th day of November A.D. 1848
