Will
Text
In the name of God Amen. I James Eastham of the County of Pulaski and State of Kentucky being old and infirm and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die and that from the course of nature I cannot live many years, and as it is my desire that what I have been fortunate enough of the goods and chattels of this world to possess to make a disposition of it in such a way as comparts with my own will and desire, and also that my soul may ascend to the heaven and enjoy perpetual blessings through the mediature of a blessed Savior. I will and desire that my body after death be buried in a decent Christian manner and that all and every description of Debt I may owe at my decease may be punctually paid and that the residue of my property remain and be vested in my aged and infirm wife during her life and that after her decease it be equally divided between my children named and their representatives and those not named as some of them will have nothing it is my will should have and enjoy no part of my property after the decease of my aged and beloved wife (to wit) my sons James, John, William and Edward Eastham, my daughters Sally Cox and Nancy Lloyd and their heirs I wish to have an equal division of my property both real and personal at the decease of my wife, if she should survive me and in case she should not then upon my decease, I wish that the children above named may have an equal division of my property both real and personal and in order to enable my heirs to make a more equal division of my estate it is my will and desire that my Executor sell the whole of my property, both real and personal at a credit of six months or twelve at their Election to the highest bidder receiving of him his bond with approved security for the personal property and in Deed of trust on the real property inclusive of bond and security to be executed by the purchaser. It is my will that wherever I allude to my heirs and representatives on the will it is understood that such of my children that are living at my decease receive their division of the property equally if any that are named should die before the decease of myself or my beloved wife that in that case the heirs of my deceased son or sons, daughter or daughters if any there be, should have what share my son or daughter would be entitiled to. I hereby appoint my son James Eastham and my wife Executors of this my last Will and Testament, also my son-in-law James Cox and Trustall Quarles Inv.
Witness my hand and seal this 13th day of January 1815.
